UQ has increased the free student download quota allowance from 3GB to 5GB per month.

The increase will take effect for all students from the start of October.

Rob Moffatt, Director of Information Technology Services at UQ, said that the increase was an important part of ensuring UQ supported student studies.

“With an increased prevalence of HD videos and images online and an increased emphasis on multimedia in course content, we’ve increased quota to meet the demands of students,” he said.

Over the last 24 months the University has more than doubled its student free quota allocation, now at 5GB per month.

UQ has also dramatically increased wireless coverage with more than 2,500 wireless access points installed across UQ campuses today and another 1000 scheduled to be installed within the next 12 months.
