A global ranking of universities has confirmed The University of Queensland’s place as one of the world’s top 100 universities.

The second QS World University Rankings by Subject, released today, rates UQ in the global top 100 for 28 out of 29 subjects.

UQ is the leading Australian university in Chemical Engineering, improving its global place to 16th (from 29th last year).

UQ has also improved since 2011 in Statistics and Operational Research, Accounting and Finance, Linguistics, English Language and Literature, Mathematics, Psychology, Environmental Sciences, Earth and Marine Sciences, and Computer Science.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Debbie Terry said the result reflected the outstanding work of people throughout UQ, and the high standards of UQ’s partners.

“The results are a credit to UQ staff and students, who are succeeding remarkably in an increasingly competitive global landscape.

“It adds to a body of evidence that outstanding people work and study at all UQ campuses, and it signals that UQ students can access excellence in all disciplines,” Professor Terry said.
