The rain wasn’t enough to stop stallholders selling a variety of jams, eggs, fruits, vegetables, jewellery, sunglasses, crafts, clothing and chocolate last week at The University of Queensland Gatton Campus.

Staff, students and members of the community enjoyed purchasing items from a wide variety of stallholders at the UQ Gatton Walkway Markets before the rain set-in.

Back for a second time were Jean and Bill Nicholls from Elizabeth Jean Jewellery, with their new product - charm scarves.

“My sister came back from Europe wearing something similar and I thought I could definitely make these here,” Mrs Nicholls.

“They were very popular with the people who attended the market last week.”

Mr and Mrs Nicholls have been taking part in markets for six years and they thoroughly enjoy the social side of being stallholders.

“There is something very fulfilling about working hard to design an item and then being able to personally sell it to the customer!”

“We’re really big on customer service and providing the best quality product with good value for money. We want people to come back,” she said.

They will definitely be coming along to the next two UQ Gatton Walkway markets on the 17 May and 18 October.

“It was a great day, the atmosphere is lovely with lots of trees and the customers all very friendly. We’re looking forward to coming along to the market in May.”
