Chancellors Place at St Lucia between Upland and Services Roads will be closed to traffic for six weeks from Monday, November 21 and bus stops in the area temporarily re-located.

UQ Director of Property and Facilities Alan Egan said the closure would permit road works to repair deterioration caused by the large volume of bus and vehicle traffic into Chancellors Place.

“Road works will take place in the first week following the end of exams to minimise the impact on the campus community,” he said.

“We appreciate this is a very busy part of the campus and apologise for the disruption to bus services and general vehicle access while the works are being undertaken.”

Mr Egan said bus stops A to E would be closed during the road works and temporary stops located on Upland Road and Hawken Drive.

The Translink ticketing machine will continue to operate in its existing location.

The intercampus bus will be relocated to the roundabout area near Otto Hirschfeld Building, and the Long Pocket Express will leave from its existing stop at Mansfield Place.

An alternate route for reaching Mansfield Place, Slip Road and Keyhole Road will operate during the six weeks.

Traffic entering from Hawken Drive wishing to access these areas should travel along Carmody Road, Coleridge Street, Sir Fred Schonell Drive, Walcott Street, Hood Street and Services Road.

Parking will still be available in Mansfield Place.

Mr Egan said advisory signage would be erected advising motorists and commuters of the changes.

The footpath on both sides of Chancellors Place will remain open and pedestrian access will not be affected.

During the road works, the Chancellery carpark will also be closed for resurfacing. Permit holders will be contacted and advised of alternative parking arrangements.
