A number of people associated with The University of Queensland were honoured in the 2011 Queen's Birthday honours list.

The University has been notified of the following honours.

Order of Australia Companion (AC) in the General Division

Honorary Doctor of Laws recipient (2009) The Honourable Justice Susan Kiefel, for eminent service to the law and to the judiciary, to law reform and to legal education in the areas of ethics, justice and governance.

Officer of the Order of Australia (AO)

The Honourable Justice Richard Chesterman RFD (Bachelor of Arts 1966, Bachelor of Laws 1968) for distinguished service to the judiciary as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Queensland, and to the community, particularly through contributions to the Cancer Council at national and state levels.

Mr Jonathan Mills, a PhD student in the School of Music, for distinguished service to the performing arts as a composer and director of international festivals, through the promotion of cultural exchange, and to public debate.

Member (AM) in the General Division

Adjunct Professor at the Centre for Military and Veterans Health Major General Jeffrey Rosenfeld, for service to medicine through clinical leadership and academic roles, particularly in the field of neurosurgery as a researcher and author, and to professional associations.

Ms Barbara Ward (Bachelor of Economics 1974, Master Political Economy 1979), for service to business and commerce through a range of executive positions with private, public and professional organisations.

Mr Steven Wilson (Bachelor of Commerce 1976, Bachelor of Laws 1978), for service to business, and to the financial services industry in Queensland, and to the community through leadership roles in cultural heritage, sport, and social welfare organisations.

Public Service Medal (PSM)

Mr Ricky Cox (Bachelor of Arts 1983), for outstanding public service to the Department of Transport and Main Roads, particularly in the area of Road Design and Innovation.

Mr Peter Davis (Bachelor of Educational Studies 1977), for outstanding public service to Education Queensland, particularly in the area of Special Education.
