The University of Queensland supports the Australian Academy of Technological Science and Engineering (ATSE) Clunies Ross Awards and Extreme Science Experience in Brisbane in May.

UQ has an outstanding history as a science and engineering teaching and discovery organisation and is proud to be a Platinum supporter of both events, which foster science teaching and careers.

This 20th anniversary year of the ATSE Clunies Ross Awards is a major milestone and two lifetime achievement awards will be presented at a dinner in Brisbane on May 19.

The awards focus on the application of Australian technological science and engineering for the benefit of the community.

They highlight the hard work, extraordinary risks and long-term commitment needed to achieve, through commercialisation, the practical marketplace impact of applied science and technology.

The awards are designed to identify people who have, often against difficulties and always with persistent commitment, made important contributions to the application of science and technology for the economic, and social or environmental benefit of Australia.

The ATSE Clunies Ross Extreme Science Experience will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on May 20.

It is a unique opportunity for Year 10 science students and teachers to engage with top Australian science and technology role models in a free, one day seminar to stimulate students’ interest in a career in science.
