Six nursing and midwifery students from The Univeristy of Queensland School of Nursing and Midwifery were recognised for their outstanding academic achievements at an awards ceremony at Customs House last week.

The students received the prestigious School of Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Scholarship awarded for academic excellence within an undergraduate program.

Professor Catherine Turner said the presentation of the awards coincided with International Midwives Day (5 May) and International Nurses Day (12 May) celebrations and recognised the outstanding achievements of undergraduate students.

“As we recognise all hard-working nurses and midwives around the world, UQ seeks to reward our leaders in the areas of nursing and midwifery research, research supervision and education," Professor Turner said.

“I congratulate this year’s outstanding and deserving award recipients."
