Applying for a job at The University of Queensland (UQ) is now quicker and easier with the introduction of the new web-based recruitment system, UQ Jobs.

As part of the UQ Jobs system, a new easy to navigate website is provided. This website enables applicants to search for a specific job or a range of jobs at UQ and subscribe to receive job alerts when a new job is posted to the UQ Jobs website. This new website replaces the “Future Staff” page.

UQ’s Associate Director, HR Systems and Business Analysis, Tim Gall, said the new UQ Jobs website not only allows applicants to apply for jobs online, it also gives them the flexibility to manage their own applications.

“Job applicants can now monitor the progress of their applications; update their contact details and CV; withdraw an application; view an offer of appointment; and even accept or decline an offer of appointment all online – drastically reducing our reliance on paper resources” he said.

Potential applicants can also lodge an expression of interest in working at UQ and specify what Faculties, Institutes and Divisions they want to have access to their CV.

Completing the online job application is a streamlined process with just some basic contact details required to be filled in before applicants upload their cover letter, response to selection criteria and resume.

“We have purposely made the filling in of the online application form as quick and as easy as possible to avoid applicants having to manually enter information that is already included in their resume,” Mr Gall said.

“And with 90 percent of recently surveyed applicants finding job positions online, it is now easier for them to apply for a job directly simply by clicking the “Apply” button, which is provided at the bottom of each UQ job advertisement.”
