UQ Jobs, The University of Queensland’s new web-based recruitment system, will go live on 23 March 2011.

The UQ Jobs project team is calling for UQ staff to assist with the transition to the new web-based recruitment system by not advertising any new jobs on 21 or 22 March 2011.

For this two day transitional period it will not be possible to advertise on the UQ webpage or SEEK.

UQ Associate Director HR Systems and Business Analysis, Tim Gall, says the UQ Jobs project team needs the support of the UQ community, especially from those managing recruitment activities, to help make the transition to the new system as smooth as possible.

“As part of the implementation, an advertising transition will be necessary prior to the UQ Jobs go-live date,” Mr Gall said.

“We are asking UQ staff to avoid advertising any new jobs during these two days to allow the UQ Jobs project team sufficient time to transfer any existing advertised positions into the UQ Jobs system.”

Mr Gall said staff are encouraged to take into account the go-live date of Wednesday, 23 March, when they plan their next recruitment activity.

“All jobs advertised over the go-live period will receive applicants in two formats - firstly by email as per the original process, and from 23 March they will be in UQ Jobs,” he said.

During the UQ Jobs transition period:
• All advertised positions with a closing date that is after the UQ Jobs go-live date will be transferred to the new online template and loaded into UQ Jobs
• The Project Team will contact the recruiters with advertised jobs that close after the go-live date and support them through the transition.
• If there is an urgent job where advertising has to be posted on the 21 or 22 March, please contact the Introduction to UQ Jobs or UQ Jobs for HR Staff courses.

The topics covered include raising a job card, advertising, short-listing candidates, coordinating interviews, reference checks, how to make a formal offer and track the recruitment activity.
