The University of Queensland (UQ) is one of Australia’s best universities to work for according to a survey of Australian university staff.

UQ was ranked second in the nation and first in Queensland in the inaugural ‘Best Universities To Work For 2010’ survey conducted by Australian university jobs website, UniJobs.

The survey asked staff working at Australian universities to rate their employer anonymously in 11 categories.

UQ ranked the highest of all universities for how well it communicates and relates to its staff. It also received among the highest ratings for employee benefits; occupational health and safety implementation and training; and provision for people with a disability.

Associate Director of UQ’s HR Client Services and Remuneration, Kerry Huish, welcomed the survey results.

“The UniJobs outcome follows the ranking of UQ as the top international academic institution outside of the United States in The Scientist magazine’s Best Places to Work in Academia survey in 2010,” Ms Huish said.

“Such rankings reaffirm UQ’s commitment to its staff, students and broader community.”
