The University of Queensland’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), Professor Max Lu, has been appointed to a national forum to help direct Australia’s technology future.
Announced this week as part of the Federal Government’s National Enabling Technologies Strategy, the eight-member Expert Forum will identify new and converging technologies and highlight any potential implications for Australia.
Professor Lu, who is also Research Director at the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for Functional Nanomaterials, is an expert in nanoparticles and nanoporous materials for clean energy and environmental technologies.
Professor Lu has over 420 journal publications. His publications have been highly cited and he is an Institute for Scientific Information Highly Cited Laureate in the Materials Science area.
He also has significant experience with government bodies, having formerly served as Chair of the Department of Education, Science and Training’s Engineering and Technology Panel for the Research Quality Framework (2007), on Expert Advisory Groups of the Prime Minister’s Science, Engineering and Innovation Council (2004, 2005), as an ARC College of Experts Panel member (2002-2004), the advisory board of CSIRO Flagship for Future Manufacturing, and the management board of the ARC Nanotechnology Network.
