The UQ Rugby Football Club could have as many as six teams in grand finals at Ballymore next weekend.
UQ’s Premier Grade team have already secured their grand final spot after a convincing 42-17 win over Sunnybank in last Sunday’s major semi-final.
The Red Heavies will enjoy a well-deserved rest this weekend while Sunnybank and the Sunshine Coast play off for the other grand final spot.
The fourth grade side also made it into the grand final by beating GPS 29-23 in their semi-final.
Another four UQ teams will play in preliminary final matches this weekend to try and secure their grand final places.
Premier Colts managed a hard-fought win over Brothers in their minor semi-final, while the Pool B Colts 2 team easily took care of Ipswich to keep their grand final hopes alive.
First grade and Colts 1 suffered losses in their major semi-final matches, but will both get second chances in this weekend’s preliminary final round.
Unfortunately, second grade were knocked out after losing their minor semi-final to Sunnybank.
UQ Sport wishes all six teams the best of luck for their finals endeavours, and congratulates the UQ Rugby Club for an outstanding season.
