The University of Queensland will support students or staff whose friends or family may be affected by this week’s devastating Haiti earthquake.

The University extends its condolences and its thoughts are with those affected by this tragic event.

Students needing support can contact Student Services on 3365 1704. Free counselling is available to staff through UQ’s Employee Assistance Program provider, Davidson Trahaire Corpsych (DTC) telephone 1300 360 364.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade advises that if you have concerns for the welfare of Australian family and friends in Haiti, you should first attempt to contact them directly.

If you are unable to contact them and still hold concerns for their welfare, you should call the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s 24-hour Consular Emergency Centre on 1300 555 135 or +61 2 6261 3305.

If you have concerns about the welfare of Haitian family members in Haiti, you should contact the Australian Red Cross on 03 9345 1800.
