UQ’s Gatton campus hosted the 17th Annual Rural Management and Agribusiness dinner this month, allowing the graduating class to celebrate with key industry representatives.

The black tie event, held on November 6, recognised the students’ hard work and acknowledged the contribution of industry to the Agribusiness and Rural Management programs.

National Australia Bank Agribusiness regional manager Greg Brown presented the NAB Award of $2500 and four weeks work experience to Matthew Kenny for his outstanding business plan on a rural enterprise.

Mr Kenny received the NAB award for his project for Comparative International Farm Systems Case Studies.

“The assignment required my peers and I to assess the UQ piggery on its current commercial merits in terms of marketing, production and sustainability,” Mr Kenny said.

“From there we had to develop a viable business plan to present to the manager to give insight into possible future endeavours.

“I am really looking forward to working for NAB and would like to thank them for this great opportunity.”

Mr Brown highlighted the importance of Agribusiness in Australia, the positive future for graduates entering the industry and the high quality of graduates that UQ Gatton continues to produce.

Mr Kenny and his classmates will graduate on December 17.
