A University of Queensland public seminar in August will focus on a popular science comic strip of the 1960s and 1970s.

The UQ Centre for Critical and Cultural Studies seminar will be given by Dr Maureen Burns on Tuesday, August 18 at level one in the Social Sciences and Humanities Library, Building 2, Campbell Road, St Lucia.

'Frontiers of Science' was a popular science comic strip published in the Sydney Morning Herald between 1961 and 1979, and syndicated to 200 newspapers around the world.

Dr Burns will examine what the comic strip can tell us about the relations between art and (popular) science in the 1960s

She is a Lecturer in Cultural and Media Studies in the School of English, Media Studies and Art History at The University of Queensland.

The seminar will be chaired by Centre director Professor Graeme Turner.
