Experts from UQ’s Marine and Shipping Law Unit are available to discuss the legal aspects of last week’s environmental disaster on Queensland’s coast.

Professor Sarah Derrington is Director of the Marine and Shipping Law Unit (07 3346 9033). Professor Derrington is also Australian Vice-President of the Maritime Law Association of Australia and New Zealand. She continues to practise exclusively in shipping law at the private Bar.

Dr Michael White QC (07 3365 2120,) is an Adjunct Professor with the TC Beirne School of Law and UQ’s Centre for Marine Studies. Dr White’s interests are in all aspects of maritime and shipping law, law of the sea, fisheries and offshore oil and gas, with a particular interest in the marine environment and government and regulatory structures. He is the author of the book Marine Pollution in the Australasian Region 2nd edition.

Dr Craig Forrest’s (07 3346 9027) main interest lies in the legal liability provisions. He is also the co-author of a recent article published in the University of Queensland Law Journal on the new Australian marine pollution legislation.
