Members of the public are welcome to attend a free UQ seminar “China’s New Leap Forward” presented by Asia-Pacific editor of The Australian, Rowan Callick, on Friday, March 27.

Mr Callick’s extensive experience gained from working as the newspaper’s Beijing correspondent has helped him achieve the Walkley Award for Asia-Pacific coverage twice.

UQ Senior Lecturer in Political Science and Seminar Series Coordinator, Dr David Martin Jones, encouraged anyone interested in the political and economic development of China to come along.

“As one of Australia's leading commentators on China, Rowan Callick promises to deliver a timely and relevant assessment of China's current status and positioning on the global financial crisis,” he said.

“This will help us to understand better the role that China will play geopolitically in the post-global financial crisis world.”

The seminar is part of a series where the public have the opportunity to hear from leading academics drawn from disciplines such as politics, international relations, public policy, peace and conflict studies and development.

“China’s New Leap Forward” will commence at 3pm at General Purpose North 3, Room 537, UQ St Lucia. All are welcome to attend.
