Presents and non-perishable food items have been gathering under the Christmas Tree at UQ Gatton to be delivered to people in need throughout the community.

Captain Justin Davies collected the donations this week from the campus on behalf of the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal.

Gifts were donated for people of all ages and interests, ranging from cuddly stuffed animals and toy trucks to perfume and cans of spaghetti.

Captain Davies stressed the importance of giving, particularly during the holiday season.

“I would like to thank the Gatton Campus for their contribution to the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal,” Captain Davies said.

“Your gifts of food and presents are greatly appreciated by people in need and this generosity spreads the Christmas cheer throughout the community.”

The 2008 Gatton Campus Christmas Appeal was organised by staff members Kaylene Pomerenke and Erin Pearl, and marks the fourth year that gifts have been donated to the Salvation Army.
