Hospitality students from UQ’s School of Tourism will showcase some thought-provoking possibilities for the future of hotel technology at a Holiday Inn Brisbane-sponsored event on Monday, June 2.
The event is the culmination of the School’s annual Hotel Technology Competition, a vital component of the Hotel Management Technology Applications course.
The course provides students with in-depth knowledge and understanding of the scope, potential and value of integrated information and communication technology in the hotel context.
Student "consulting" groups will present their innovative technology concepts to a panel of judges comprising Holiday Inn General Manager, Raymond Faulkner; Information Technology Manager, Duncan Stevens; and Dr Noel Scott from the School of Tourism.
The event will be attended by leading hotel, tourism and council representatives, UQ staff, selected School of Tourism students, as well as aspiring tourism students from selected high schools.
The UQ School of Tourism, and Holiday Inn Brisbane, invite media to attend the event, which will be held in the Bribie/Moreton Rooms, Level 5 of the Holiday Inn Brisbane, 159 Roma Street, from 10.30am-12.00pm.
Holiday Inn Brisbane and UQ representatives, as well as competing students, will be available for interviews and photo opportunities at the conclusion of the event.
