The academic year may have commenced in February but studying at UQ in 2008 is still an option, with applications for mid-year entry now open.

UQ Admissions Manager, Mina Singh, said mid-year enrolment was an attractive option for many people.

“Commencing study in semester two is a great choice for students who perhaps wanted to take some extra time off after completing year 12 and students who were unable to start studies earlier in the year,” Ms Singh said.

“It’s also beneficial for mature-age students who might be returning to University to complete a qualification or taking up tertiary study for the first time.

“Anyone wishing to study at UQ in 2008 has certainly not missed the boat, and should seriously consider the options available at UQ’s St Lucia, Gatton and Ipswich campuses.”

Prospective students can choose from 33 undergraduate programs which cover a range of disciplines including Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences and Education, Business, Economics and Tourism, Science and IT, Agriculture, Animals, Food and the Environment, and Health.

UQ is holding a Mid-Year Advice Night on Wednesday, May 21 from 6pm to 7.30pm where students can find out everything they need to know regarding entry requirements, college accommodation, recognition of prior learning and scholarships.

“I would encourage all prospective students interested in undergraduate programs to come along to the advice night,” Ms Singh said.

“It’s an opportunity to meet face-to-face with UQ staff, clarify any queries they may have about studying here, and get a feel for what we have to offer.”

Anyone wishing to enrol at UQ in semester two is invited to apply via the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre website - www.qtac.edu.au (QTAC).

Offers for mid-year admission will be made from June 5.

The advice night is to be held on Wednesday, May 21 from 6pm at the UQ Centre, St Lucia. Representatives from the Ipswich and Gatton campuses will also be available at the event. For more information, and to RSVP, please visit www.uq.edu.au.
