What is considered ethical legal practice? Where do legal ethics lie in the future? These are some of the topics that will be discussed at the upcoming third International Legal Ethics conference to be held in July on the Gold Coast.

Integrity in Legal Practice will be co-hosted by The University of Queensland’s TC Beirne School of Law and Griffith University’s Griffith Law School, with keynote speakers including three of the world's experts on legal ethics: Professor David Luban from Georgetown, Professor Deborah Rhode from Stanford and Cornell University Professor Brad Wendel.

The conference has been designed to cater for both scholars and legal practitioners, with a designated Practitioners’ Day including relevant papers, presentations and discussions as well as a breakfast event with the Honourable Justice Paul de Jersey AC and conference dinner with the Honourable Ian Callinan, AC QC.

Special guest speakers for this part of the program also include barrister Stephen Keim SC, and lawyer Peter Russo, who recently represented Dr Mohammed Haneef.

Endorsed by the Queensland Law Society and the Bar Association of Queensland, the conference will embrace international perspectives and provide a forum for informed and lively debate across the conference themes.

This conference is highly recommended for those working in the legal profession, researchers and academics, as well as anyone with an interest in ethics and the law.

Full details of the conference, including registration information and a complete list of speakers is available at the event website www.griffith.edu.au/conference/legal-ethics-2008.
