UQ Business School MBA graduate, Sarah Davidson, is the only Queenslander to be selected for the 2008/2009 Vincent Fairfax Fellowship, a national ethics in leadership program.

Sarah Davidson, Business Development Manager for the Hear and Say Centre for Deaf Children, was encouraged to apply for the program by an MBA colleague and past Vincent Fairfax Fellow.

“I was attracted to the program’s aim to develop Australian leaders with the capacity for ethical reflection who view leadership as an opportunity to serve our community,” she said.

“My immediate purpose in applying for the Fellowship is to further develop my leadership capability to assist expansion of the Hear and Say WorldWide hearing health team education program, particularly into Asia Pacific markets.

“I'm also interested in gaining a stronger awareness and understanding of the many diverse issues presently facing regional and remote Australia.”

The Fellowship program will involve study and travel within Australia and the Asia Pacific over the next eighteen months to examine some of the key ethical and leadership issues in our region, through experiential and reflective learning.

Fellowship activities include a six day trek through the Katherine Gorge in the Northern Territory, meeting with indigenous leaders and local aboriginal communities, briefings in Canberra on major policy issues, a mentoring program and conducting a research project in South East Asia.

Sarah also received the Wilson HTM – MBA Director’s Award for Academic Excellence and Leadership at the UQ Business School’s 2005 Top MBA Student Awards.

In 2006 Sarah also captained the UQ Business School’s postgraduate team to a 1st place win in the prestigious national Boston Consulting Group Business Strategy Competition.

The Vincent Fairfax Fellowship is the St James Ethics Centre’s ethics in leadership program and is supported by the Vincent Fairfax Ethics in Leadership Foundation.
