All of the family can enjoy the facilities of UQ SPORT for free when the third annual Energise Brisbane event takes place this Sunday.

Held at the University’s St Lucia Campus, the day aims to encourage people of all ages to to enjoy the benefits of sporting activity.

“Energise Brisbane is designed to bring together people from all walks of life through enjoyment of an active lifestyle,” UQ SPORT’s Executive Director Kim Guerin said.

“It provides a great chance for the public to experience the sporting facilities UQ has to offer – an international standard Athletics Centre, Olympic-sized swimming pool and Aquatics Centre, all-encompassing Sport and Fitness Complex, and Brisbane’s largest Tennis facility.”

Free entertainment for the kids will include appearances by ABC television’s Active Kidz stars, Scott and Amy, as well as jumping castles, face painting, competitions, and inflatables in the pool.

Junior sporting clinics will also take place throughout the day, introducing children to a range of activities in a fun and interactive environment.

Opening the festivities at 8am will be the inaugural Bridge Bash Fun Run, taking competitors on a 4km or 8km run or walk along the Brisbane River and over the Eleanor Schonell Bridge.

Making appearances will be Australian sporting personalities including swim star Jessica Schipper, Olympic sprinter Paul Di Bella and UQ’s own World Swimming Champion Melanie Schlanger, who will be involved in events, meeting fans, and signing autographs.
