It's not often that Australia's four biggest football codes share the same stage.
But Brisbane audiences will be privileged to this rare sight when a panel of football experts including Brisbane Lions coach Leigh Matthews and Queensland Reds and former Wallabies coach Eddie Jones present a special forum at the University of Queensland on June 5.
Matthews and Jones will be joined by others including Steve Folkes, head coach of the NRL club the Canterbury Bulldogs to reveal how coaches successfully lead their teams on a daily basis.
Guests will hear first-hand from the greats as they discuss the competing demands faced by today's coaches and offer their tips on how to get to the top and stay there.
AFL legend Matthews is unmatched in his experience, having won four premierships as a player and another four as a coach (including a hat trick with the Brisbane Lions).
Jones has reached the pinnacle of rugby union, having won the coach of the year two years in a row at the annual Super 12 Awards, and famously leading the Wallabies to the final of the 2003 Rugby World Cup.
While all three coaches hold very public roles, their strategies largely remain a mystery.
The forum will treat the audience to a rare insight into their careers and answer a host of questions including how they deal with periods of defeat and success.
Event organiser Troy McGrath said the forum would give Brisbane's business and corporate leaders a unique opportunity to gain valuable advice from leaders in Australian sport.
Held at the University's St Lucia campus, the forum is part of a three-day high performance coaching and athlete development conference – the Evolution of the Athlete.
Forum tickets are $75 and are available at the conference website or by phoning (07) 3346 7518.
