Six UQ Ipswich students have been awarded Bachelor of Business scholarships at the campus scholarships and prizes award ceremony held yesterday at Ipswich.

Bachelor of Business students Angela Brockhurst (Glenore Grove), Emily Franke (Bellbowrie), Stephen Harling (Eastern Heights), and Maryann Ledger (Carters Ridge) and Bachelor of Business Communication students Sophie Wilson (Bundamba) and Rebecca Franklin (Glamorgan Vale) will each collect $1500 scholarships to help meet some of the costs of their studies.

Scholarship winner Angela Brockhurst – who intends to study accounting – said she was thrilled to win the scholarship.

“I’m the first in my family to do a degree and my first choice was always The University of Queensland because of its excellent reputation," she said.

“Since I started here, I’ve found the Ipswich campus and staff really friendly and supportive.”

Sophie Wilson is enrolled in a double degree majoring in Economics and Business Communication.

“I participated in the Enhanced Study Program while I was doing Year 12 and that gave me a taste of what to expect at the Ipswich campus,” she said.
