The University of Queensland will have many experts available to offer advice when it hosts a free Postgraduate Expo on Wednesday, October 25.

The Postgraduate Expo will be at Brisbane Customs House, 399 Queens Street from 4.30pm to 7pm.

UQ offers a range of postgraduate opportunities at many levels, including Honours, Graduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma, Masters by Coursework, Masters by Research, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Professional Doctorate.

Representatives from all UQ faculties and a number of institutes will be available in the Long Room to talk individually with prospective students about postgraduate coursework and research programs. In addition, seminars
will be held on a wide range of study areas including business administration, social science, nursing, law, education, tourism, hospitality, leisure and event management, and writing, editing and publishing.

Dean of Students Dr Lisa Gaffney said UQ was Queensland’s leading postgraduate institution with almost 10,000 students enrolled in coursework or research programs.

“The knowledge and skills gained through top quality postgraduate programs give our graduates a competitive advantage in the job market,” she said.

Dr Gaffney said many of the University`s postgraduate students were completing research higher degrees, specialising in a particular field of study.


“UQ is one of the top three research universities in Australia and leads industry collaboration and research funding,” she said.

“Students are able to study with researchers of international renown and have access to a myriad of information networks and resources.

“The University provides excellent academic, administrative and personal support services for postgraduate students undertaking research or coursework programs, giving them the optimum higher degree experience.”
