The University of Queensland has received Queensland Government Smart State grants valued at almost $11 million under programs announced during the BIO2006 conference in Chicago.
The grants were sourced from the Government’s Innovation Projects and Innovation Skills Funds, part of the recently announced $200 million Smart State Innovation Funding Program.
Grants included:
Smart State Premier’s Fellowship $1.25 million - Professor Ian Frazer (CICR)
Smart State Senior Fellowship $300,000 - Professor Mark Kendall (AIBN/CICR)
Smart State Fellowships $150,000 - Dr Brendan O`Sullivan (CICR) and Dr John Power (QBI).
Smart State National and International Research Alliances Program - Professor Allan Paull (HyShot program) $2 million; Professor Andrew Whittaker (CMR/AIBN) $1.2 million; Professor Mark Ragan (IMB) $1.9 million; Professor Matt Trau (AIBN/Molecular and Microbial Sciences) $2 million.
Smart State Research-Industry Partnerships - Professor David Fairlie (IMB) $800,000; Professor Maree Smith, (Centre for Integrated Preclinical Drug Development) $865,000.
Smart State Partnerships-Alliances Facilitation Program - Professor Rod Minchin (School of Biomedical Sciences) $50,000; Dr Simon Finnigan (CMR) $62,500.
