Former Legislative Council member and business leader Eric Li was guest speaker at The University of Queensland’s (UQ) Hong Kong graduation ceremony on Friday.

The senior partner of Li, Tang, Chen & Co Certified Public Accountants, is a director of several listed companies such as the Hang Seng Bank, Sun Hung Kai Properties and China Resources Enterprise.

The evening ceremony on September 16, was held at at the Marriott Hotel in Pacific Place, Hong Kong.

The ceremony was one of four held by UQ in south-east Asia this month so graduates could share their triumphs with friends and family.

UQ, based in Brisbane, Australia, is Queensland’s oldest and largest University which consistently ranks as one of Australia’s top research and teaching and learning universities.

About 160 Hong Kong students, mostly from commerce, business management and arts, have graduated from UQ in the past year.

UQ has 13 agreements with Hong Kong institutions to foster research and academic collaboration and student and staff exchanges.

The University is a member of the Group of Eight, an elite group of universities which conducts 70 percent of all university research in Australia.

It is also one of only three Australian members of Universitas 21, an international network of comprehensive, research-intensive universities committed to quality through benchmarking against world-best practice.

UQ consistently receives the maximum five star ratings for teaching and research and for positive graduate outcomes.
