Two prominent Australian authors will visit The University of Queensland Ipswich Campus next month for the Ipswich Festival of Children’s Literature 2005.
Hosted by the UQ Ipswich Library and organised by the Ipswich District Teacher-Librarian Network, the festival will feature appearances by Australian young adult authors Isobelle Carmody and Paul Collins and will be held this Sunday, September 4.
Isobelle Carmody is one of Australia’s most highly regarded and prominent authors of fantasy for young adult readers. Several of her books have been published to great acclaim in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Paul Collins has written for both adults and children and has pioneered the publishing of adult heroic fantasy in Australia. His recent works include the highly successful fantasy series (co-edited with Michael Pryor), the Quentaris Chronicles.
Members of the public will have the opportunity to meet both authors in Building 12, Ipswich Campus, from 10 to 11.30am on Sunday, September 4. Founding Director and Chairwoman of the Fremantle Children’s Literature Centre, Lesley Reece will also provide a sneak preview of Isobelle Carmody’s latest novel Alyzon Whitestarr from 11.30am.
