Students throughout Australia and New Zealand are invited to apply for free flights and accommodation to attend postgraduate information sessions at UQ’s St Lucia campus.
Students interested in undertaking Earth Sciences, Mathematics or Physics postgraduate research in 2006 are invited to apply to attend the School of Physical Sciences (SPS) Postgraduate Recruitment and Information Days on September 22 and 23.
Applications close on Friday September 2 and successful interstate and New Zealand applicants will receive return economy airfares to Brisbane. Accommodation costs will also be covered.
Acting Head of School Professor Halina Rubinsztein-Dunlop said the Postgraduate Recruitment and Information Days were established two years ago as a School initiative.
“The days have proved to be extremely effective in the past for recruiting high quality research students so we are repeating them again this year.
“Successful applicants will have the opportunity to meet current PhD students and staff and to discuss options for choosing a research project that satisfies their needs and interests.”
Professor Rubinsztein-Dunlop said successful students would also receive assistance with preparing an application for an Australian Postgraduate Award, which has an annual stipend valued at more than $18,000 per annum tax-free.
UQ is a recognised world leader in Earth Sciences, Mathematics and Physics research and as well as offering 14 areas of specialised study across the three disciplines the School has postgraduate supervisors who are international leaders in their fields.
