UQ Business School will host Senator Elect Barnaby Joyce, Telstra’s Steve Johnston, and Alan Ducret of the ACCC tomorrow Wednesday May 25 to discuss the future of Telstra.

Organised by Professor Ken Wiltshire of UQ Business School, the government-business forum is a regular component of the MBA class in institutional frameworks and ethics.

Professor Wiltshire, who is the University`s JD Story Professor of Public Administration, said he would chair the discussion between the National Party’s Barnaby Joyce, Telstra’s Group Manager Corporate Affairs, and the regional manager of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

“Barnaby Joyce campaigned on his opposition to the full privatisation of Telstra – which looks inevitable after the Government takes control of the Senate on July 1, 2005,” Professor Wiltshire said.

“The MBA students are looking forward to a robust discussion and I’m sure the participants won’t disappoint."

Professor Wiltshire said the final sale of Telstra would make the process one of the world’s major privatisations.

The event begins at 5.30pm at UQ Business School Downtown on level 19 Central Plaza one in the CBD.
