UQ Business School (UQBS) Downtown has been entered by architects Bligh Voller Nield in the interiors category of the RAIA 2005 Brisbane Architecture Awards.
An entire floor of city landmark Central Plaza One on the corner of Queen and Creek Streets, the UQBS facility combines an educational environment with a corporate edge both aesthetically and functionally – to create a unique venue for academic and corporate programs and events.
The space includes a tiered lecture theatre, a fully flexible soft wired seminar room and two seminar rooms which open up to form one large space. A premium boardroom facility for 25 people is located adjacent to the reception creating a unique space for functions with dramatic river and city views.
The Bligh Voller Nield fit-out successfully reflects the Business School’s corporate leadership role while paying due tribute to its University of Queensland heritage.
Plenty of natural light and a focus on the venue’s magnificent views are complemented by a careful blend of architectural openness and acoustic privacy.
Competition judges visited UQBS Downtown on April 12. The Brisbane Awards will be presented on May 20 at Suncorp Stadium. Winners will proceed to the state awards, with the state award winners progressing to the National Architecture Awards.
