Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) who are currently taking stimulant medication are needed for a University of Queensland (UQ) study.
The study, conducted by researchers in the School of Psychology, is aimed at children between 7 and 11 years to determine whether stimulant medication improves their impulsivity.
“Recent research suggests that one of the core difficulties for children with ADHD is their inability to withhold an impulsive response,” said Caroline Johnson from UQ’s School of Psychology, who is completing the research as part of her PhD.
Ms Johnson said the study would investigate whether medication affects children’s ability to withhold an impulsive response through the use of specially designed computer games.
Parents will also be asked to answer a brief series of questions regarding the symptoms of ADHD experienced by their child.
There is no charge for test and participants will receive two adult and child ‘two for one’ movie vouchers. To register or find out further information, contact the University on 3346 8797.
