University of Queensland general staff members who have inspired their peers through qualities in the workplace were rewarded at a University breakfast recently.

Chancellor Sir Llewellyn Edwards presented Miracle Worker and Miracle Manager awards on September 11 at a UQ General Staff Association breakfast at the UQ Union`s Red Room, St Lucia campus.

General Staff Association President and University Senator Denis Brosnan said this was the ninth occasion in which general staff could nominate any employee of the University for the awards.

"Staff were nominated for qualities including their selfless concern for others, sharing of knowledge, excellent communication skills, leadership skills, willingness to assist others or a high ethical or moral stance," he said.

The awards were established in 1995 by the Scitech General Staff communications group.
They grew out of an Action Learning Program sponsored by the Vice-Chancellor and the University`s Teaching and Educational Development Institute.
