Everything from the breathtaking beauty of Northumbria to marriage workshops and food hygiene practices is on the agenda as part of The University of Queensland’s community education courses.
UQ’s Institute of Continuing and TESOL Education (ITCE-UQ) has been offering a variety of courses for personal, social, vocational and technical education to the wider community since 1983.
“The courses are not part of a degree program and enrolment is open to everyone,” said course coordinator Tina Fiegel.
“In fact, a 20 percent reduction of fees is available for the majority of course to pensioners, full-time students and those receiving unemployment benefits.
“It’s a great way for members of the community to broaden their understanding and knowledge of a topic that interests them in a casual teaching environment.”
Most classes are held at the University’s St Lucia campus. Upcoming courses will cover topics in the arts, literature and philosophy, effective writing, personal and professional development, business and finance, and computers.
Some courses are also held at UQ Ipswich, including a five-day Certificate IV in assessment and workplace training, which will commence next month.
