Children aged eight, nine and 10 with coordination difficulties such as difficulties with writing or scissor-cutting, bat and ball skills or using utensils are needed for a University of Queensland study. Children with normal development are also required.
The Physiotherapy Department study will investigate why some children experience difficulties with development of coordination that affects their school, play and self-care performance.
The study will look at whether difficulties with upper limb gross and fine motor skills are related to underlying differences in muscle control during arm movements and control of posture.
Children will be required to attend the Department for one session to participate in the study. Developmental assessment results will be made available to parents.
