The University of Queensland will hold information nights at the UQ Ipswich and St Lucia campuses this month following the release of the Year 12 OP scores.

UQ Admissions Manager Claron Driscoll said the sessions would assist students, once they knew their OP scores, with advice on changing their QTAC options before the major offer round in January. Admissions staff would be available to answer any questions regarding study at UQ.

Year 12 results will be released on December 15, 2000. The deadline for school leavers to change course preferences with the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre in time for first-round offers is January 5, 2001 via the 1900 971 133 line.

Students can ring QTAC on January 18 to find out if they have been offered a place. Major round offers and enrolment packages will be mailed out on January 19.

Ms Driscoll said the session at each UQ campus would cover the selection process, changing preferences, upgrading entry scores, and other alternative pathways for entry to University of Queensland courses.

"The information nights will inform prospective students and parents about the University, and I hope help alleviate anxiety about making decisions affecting tertiary study applications, especially for competitive courses," she said.

"There will be plenty of time for questions and informal discussions with University Admissions and faculty staff."

The UQ Ipswich information night for undergraduate and postgraduate courses will be held in the foyer of Building 12 on Monday, December 18 commencing at 7pm.

Entrance to UQ Ipswich is via Parker Avenue or Salisbury Road and plenty of parking is available.

The UQ St Lucia undergraduate information night will be held on Wednesday, December 20 at the University's Abel Smith Lecture Theatre, Campbell Place commencing at 7pm.

Students can also call the UQ Info-Line (07 3365 2203) between 9am-5pm on the weekdays of the Christmas-New Year holiday break. The Info-Line will be closed on public holidays.
