The University of Queensland spin-off company, Pacific Oligos Pty Ltd has merged with world-leading French company, Genset, to form Genset Pacific Pty Ltd.
This merger will bring together the highly skilled employees of Genset and the extensive marketing network of Pacific oligos developed over a number of years.
Chief Executive Officer of Genset Pacific, Dr Glen Tong said Pacific Oligos' commitment to quality and service would be enhanced by the involvment of Genset.
"The partnership with Genset, whose oligonucleotide Division is the world leader in DNA synthesis, is the most natural way for Pacific Oligos to grow and be able to optimally meet scientist's expectations," he said.
Genset believes the establishment of the $105 million Institute for Molecular Bioscience due for completion in mid 2002, heralds the development of a genomics, pharmaceutical and bioinformatics hub which will present many related opportunitiesfor Genset Pacific.
