Event Description

Full Description:
Large scale political upheaval has rocked Hong Kong for several months, following its government’s
attempt to introduce an extradition bill, which was viewed to threaten the
city’s special autonomous status within the People’s Republic of China. Amid escalating
clashes between protestors and the Hong Kong Police and threats of Chinese intervention
to quell the unrest, the future of Hong Kong has not seemed so uncertain for decades.

In this Flashpoint event, POLSIS experts will examine the protests and the context
in which they emerged, as well as the potential trajectories for this serious crisis.

Panelists A/Prof Shahr Hameiri and Dr Sarah Teitt moderated by A/prof Sarah Percy
