Event Description

Full Description:

Have you ever wanted to take part in a Guinness World Record? Is this a bucket list item you have always wanted to tick off? Well do we have an opportunity for you!

On 23 July 2019 the University of Queensland is giving the UQ community and wider Brisbane community the chance to help break a world record while shining a light on mental health awareness.

The attempt will will be for the Largest Mindfulness Lesson (Single Venue) and will be conducted by mindfulness guru Dr. Russ Harris. The Lesson will teach mindfulness techniques that are commonly used to help maintain mental health and manage issues such as depression, anxiety and stress.

This will be a great day out and will bring together UQ students, staff, alumni, family, friends and the wider community. There will be freebies, giveaways, wellness stalls, free lunch and of course the chance to be a part of a world record! While you're here, we also ask you to indulge in our colour theme for the day and to wear your brightest shirt, dress, hat or shoes, to help us a shine a positive light on mental health.

A variety of other wellness stalls will also be available on the day to help promote the services and programs at UQ and the wider local local community. To symbolise and celebrate the combined efforts of the community to help break the record, there will also be a colour run guard of honour at the conclusion of the event for those who dare, followed by a delicious lunch at the Great Picnic (Wellness Edition).

Please come with an open mind and a smile and be prepared to be mindful whether rain or shine!
