Event Description

Full Description:
The event honours the legacy of Professor Jiro Kikkawa, the beloved Head of the Department of Zoology at UQ between 1980-1988. Jiro Kikkawa is well known for his outstanding work on silvereyes on the off-shore islands of the Great Barrier Reef and his publications on the biogeography of Australian rainforest birds.

This years lecture, Roots as a Force to Adapt to our Changing Climate, will be presented by Associate Professor Siobhan Brady, from University of California Davis, USA.

We will also be awarding the School of Biological Sciences prizes to recognise the outstanding work of two Honours students, and seven undergraduate students who have excelled in the fields of Marine Biology, Botany, Entomology, Vertebrate Zoology, Ecology, Genetics and Evolution.
