- The social sciences have an important role to play in understanding mining’s impact on people and place, and its effect on different types of social systems and processes.
The panel will provide a range of perspectives about how social scientists can shine a light on the mining industry, and its activities and impacts. By developing a deeper understanding of the mining industry’s broad reach, and by engaging diverse stakeholder groups, new perspectives about mining’s role in society can emerge.
This event is hosted by SMI's Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining, the Centre's Director Professor Deanna Kemp will facilitate the discussion.
