You are not hallucinating! This is an update! I've been busy with other things this past year and so my commitment to this page has simply been non-existent. I'm doing this now mainly out of guilt because I know how annoying it is to be out looking for some news about your favourite bands, only to find that there isn't any because the people haven't updated their pages in a year! I did get an offer from someone to take over control of the page from me but that fell through andI just never got around to doing anything to the page again. Anyway, enough about me! Here's the news!
Grant Lee Buffalo have a new album due out on June 9th and it is called 'Jubilee'. The band's fourth album will also be their first release without founding member Paul Kimble (bass, keyboards, production) since he was asked to leave by Grant Lee Phillips in early May last year, due to 'musical differences'. It was an amicable split and Paul has been pursuing a solo career this past year. Paul Kimble has been replaced by Dan Rothschild, formerly of Tonic and the album also contains numerous guest appearances by the likes of Michael Stipe (REM), Robyn Hitchcock, E (The Eels), Rami Jaffee (The Wallflowers), Greg Leisz (who played on both Mighty Joe Moon and Copperopolis), Phil Parlapiano (The Figaro Bros.'), Andrew Williams (The Williams Bros.), and Jon Brion. 'Jubilee' was produced by Paul Fox, who has also worked with bands such as XTC, 10,000 Maniacs and Robyn Hitchcock. For more details, go here: http://www.wbr.com/glb
Also, from what I've heard, the Velvet Goldmine film has either been completed or is nearing completion, so hopefully we'll be hearing the soundtrack soon!

Grant Lee Buffalo have been working on songs for the soundtrack to the upcoming movie Velvet Goldmine. They have completed four songs: 'The Living Proof', 'Lo' and Behold', 'The Whole' Shebang' and 'Make Your Own Little Heaven'. The film is about a 70s glam rock band and GLB's contribution will be in the same vein which Paul Kimble has described as "sort of T. Rex meets Bowie's 'Hunky Dory'. Grant Lee Phillips co-wrote one of these tracks with Michael Stipe who is executive producer for the film. Other bands working on the soundtrack include a supergroup comrpised of Mike Watt, Thurston Moore and Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth, Mark Arm of Mudhoney and Ron Asheton of the Stooges; Radiohead and Pulp's Jarvis Cocker. The album may be a double album and will be released next year. For the full story go here: http://www.stipey.com/rem/news/970224.htm
Rumours also abound that Grant Lee Buffalo will begin work on a new album after taking a holiday for a month or two and that Paul Kimble is working on a soslo album. For more details visit Kerry Neill's Buffalo Moon
