Students FAQs
Do I receive credit for my participation in this program?
The UQ Young Scholars Program is aimed at providing a unique enrichment experience for students. It is not a formal academic course and as such there are no credit arrangements for individual degree programs. Participation in the Young Scholars Program does not preclude a student from also enrolling in the University’s Enhanced Studies Program for which credit may be awarded upon successful completion.
What is meant by leadership achievements?
Leadership may include formal positions held within the school or community organisations or representation in a range of cultural, sporting or academic pursuits. Assessment of leadership abilities and school/community involvement will be based on information contained in the applicant’s personal statement. The University will make its own judgement about what constitutes the most meritorious cases.
How much time would I need to commit?
Successful applicants must be available to attend the five-day (four night) residential camp (27 November-1 December, 2011) and the two-day (overnight) residential camp (25-26 June, 2012). Other opportunities, such as UQ Open Day, will be made available for students who wish to become further involved with the University however these are not embedded into the Program.
