Welcome to the School of Veterinary Science
| The School of Veterinary Science has the responsibility for the training of students, for providing continuing education opportunities, and for conducting original research. Our specialist staff also provide a consultative service to industry and members of the profession. With a staff establishment of 100, the School operates the Pastoral Veterinary Centre at Goondiwindi (350 km from St. Lucia campus), the farm animal practice at Dayboro (50 km from campus) and shares facilities at the Gatton Campus (80 km from campus) and the Pinjarra Hills farm. Based on this extensive infrastructure of laboratories and facilities, research and course areas covered by the School include: animal behaviour; animal health; animal husbandry and production; biological and veterinary chemistry; veterinary physiology and pharmacology; biometry and statistics; veterinary anatomy; veterinary microbiology, pathology and parasitology; genetics and animal breeding; animal nutrition; tropical animal production systems; poultry health, medicine and production; reproduction in farm animals and horses; meat science; breeding and nutrition of freshwater fish; dairy and beef cattle medicine and production; pig medicine and production; sheep and goat medicine and production; wildlife health and management; veterinary medicine and surgery, and veterinary preventive medicine, which includes applied epidemiology, quarantine and exotic diseases. |
