Dayboro is a small dairying community approximately one hour's drive north of Brisbane. Situated in a valley, the township has a population of approximately 2000 people. The farms radiate out along the North Pine River, Lacey's Creek, Rush Creek and up to Mt. Mee. The Dayboro Veterinary Surgery was bought by the University in 1987 as a teaching clinic for fifth year veterinary students in their dairy cattle medicine rotation. Later, separate brick accommodation was built for student accommodation. Students today enjoy the experience of working within a truly mixed practice. Research projects into practical aspects of dairy production are frequently carried out by clinic staff.
