Welcome to the Small Animal Hospital at the University of Queensland’s Gatton Campus Veterinary Medical Centre.

Our hospital offers unrivalled medical and surgical facilities for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, small mammals and even fish.

These facilities mean nothing however unless backed up by the very best in veterinary knowledge, care and attention to your pet. You will find that we offer the highest standard of care for your pet.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here not only for your pet, but also for you.

Hours of operation

The UQ Gatton Veterinary Medical Centre is open Monday to Friday (8am–6pm) and Saturday morning (8am–12pm). We are closed Saturday afternoon, Sunday, and on public holidays.

Emergencies and out-of-hours service

Emergencies will be seen at any time during our normal operating hours. An appointment is not necessary, but a telephone call alerting us to your arrival will assist us to be ready for you.

Outside our normal operating hours we have a veterinarian on call, usually less than 15 minutes away from the Centre. It is important to realise that the on-call veterinarian is not at the Centre – you must call
him/her to access emergency care. Simply call the Centre on (07) 5460 1788 to receive directions on contacting the on-call vet.

Fees and payment of account

Our fees are comparable to other veterinary practices in the region. We do not offer accounts – fees must be paid in full at the time of service. We accept Visa, MasterCard and cash. Unfortunately we can no longer accept cheques. In some situations, clients may be able to apply for Care Credit, a form of financing offered by GE Credit. We must emphasise that approval for your application rests with GE, not the Veterinary Medical Centre. If your application is approved, you then repay GE over 3–6 months.
