 Profile

The Discipline of Surgery plays a significant role in the teaching of students and the conduct of research within the School of Medicine.

Research interests in the Discipline of Surgery are broadly based in:

  • Hepatobiliary Disease including Liver Transplantation
  • Renal Transplantation
  • Transplantation Biology in its broadest sense
  • Melanoma and Soft Tissue diseases
  • Disease of the Eye
  • Vascular Surgery
  • Gastroenterology
  • Breast disease
  • Surgical Endocrinology
  • Otolaryngology
  • Urology
In addition to ongoing interests in developments in medical educational collaborative ties are established with the Queensland Institute of Medical Research, other Departments of The University of Queensland, Queensland Health Authorities, and national and overseas universities.
