The School of Chemistry & Molecular Biosciences comprises the disciplines of chemistry, biochemistry & molecular biology, and microbiology. The School is the major provider of teaching in these disciplines at the University, and also contributes to areas of study which cross School and Faculty boundaries, including:
- Materials science,
- Nanotechnology,
- Computational science,
- Biotechnology,
- Genetics,
- Developmental biology and
- Neurobiology.
The School provides service teaching for students in Veterinary Science, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Engineering, Human Movement Studies and the Graduate Medical Course. Strong links with the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, the Sir Albert Sakzewski Virus Research Centre, the Queensland Institute of Medical Research, the Centre for Advanced Imaging and the Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis enhance both the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs.
The School also offers postgraduate research opportunities in a range of exciting fields. Currently, more than 200 postgraduate students are pursuing studies in a variety of research areas, which include: - Virology and immunology
