Parkinsons disease (PD) is a progressive condition of the central nervous system affecting movement. PD is a debilitating condition which affects around 50,000 Australians at any one time, with the prevalence in those over 65 years estimated at about 1%. PD usually begins between the ages of 4070 with the average age of onset being 61.6 years. Interestingly only 510% of patients are diagnosed before the age of 40.
